To all our Oklahoma State Grangers and to all of our brothers and sisters across our great country, I hope this issue of the Sooner State Granger finds everyone well. I know here in Oklahoma we have had some families, who have had great loses. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. Also, the last time we spoke, I hoped that everyone across the State and Country would be able to survive the weather, the constant rain and storms. Unfortunately, the weather has not subsided, making this summer one of the wettest and stormiest in recent history.

It is that time of year again. The summer has flown by, with most of our vacations are over and our children are headed back to school. I hope that everyone had a great summer. It is now time for all our Oklahoma State Grange Scholarship recipients to mail me your official college enrollment and class schedule, if you have not sent it to me. You need to do this as soon as possible.

The Great Plains Regional Conference was held on June 23-25 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Lawrence, Kansas. The Oklahoma State Grange was represented by 27 members this year, I know everyone that attended has a wonderful time. Along with the great workshops and crafts, Mandy had scheduled for us. The Youth had an exciting time touring the Kansas University campus and participating in the team building obstacle course. I think there was a lot of sore muscles when they got back. The Juniors had a fun time going through and participating in the hands-on museum. Over all it was a great trip and gathering, I want to thank Mandy Bostwick and the whole Kansas State Grange for making all of us feel right home and provided great activities.

It is time to mail your registration forms if you plan to attend our 102st Oklahoma State Grange session in Tulsa Oklahoma on October 20th- 22nd 2017. The session will be held again at the Crown Plaza Hotel in south Tulsa. I hope to have an outstanding turnout this year and hope to see some fresh faces.

Also, you should have already sent your Community Service Reports in, as they were due by September 1st, 2017 and should have been sent to OK. State Activities Director Lisa Evans, P.O. Box 504 Ketchum, OK. 74349. Also, State Session Resolutions are due by October 1st, 2017 and can be email to OK. State Secretary Jennie Harrington at jbarj@rocketmail.com.

This is an election year so you need to be thinking of good candidates to fill our State Officer positions.

I hope all the Subordinate Granges helps the Youth Department with their project of gathering food and supplies for the food bank and pet shelter so they can obtain their goal. Please bring your donated items to the State Session so you can hand them in to the Youth Department.

I am still looking for a qualified candidate that can build a new website and manage it for the Oklahoma State Grange. Our current Internet technical person, Robert Lobsinger is planning on retiring at the end of the year. Therefore he will not be able to take care of our website. He is willing to hand over the current website over to whom-ever accepts the position. If that happens he would probably have to go over the website with you to get you familiar with it. If interested contact me and we can discuss the job and duties you will expected to perform.

At the opening of the Oklahoma State Grange session on October 20th, 2017, I would like to ask all of the State Officers to wear business attire, jacket and tie for men and a dress or nice blouse and slacks for women. Please make whatever you wear be comfortable because I\'92m sure our great Assistant Steward, Ryan Foley and Lady Assistant Steward, Tammy Couch are planning a great drill for us to do while we march in to the Session.

There have been several people that have asked me, for the past several months what the theme would be for our Celebration Banquet. Let me tell you it is not easy to decide on what type of theme we should have for such an important evening during our State Session. And after many good suggestions I have decided to go with the theme of Pumpkin Patch / Halloween, as far as how to dress you can come as your favorite farmer, scarecrow, pumpkin, and/or your favorite Halloween character. And being this is the Grange Organizations 150th Anniversary, you could come as your favorite Grange founding father.

Just to give everyone a heads up I have been in contact with the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa OK and have set up tour of the Museum. We will have a charter bus to take us to the museum and will bring us back to the hotel. Some of us might need to drive, depending on number of participants. You can take a guided tour or look on your own, it should be a good time.

I truly hope everyone has had a fun and prosperous summer and spent quality time with your families and loved ones as possible. If anyone needs my assistance don't hesitate to contact me.
